Frequently Asked Questions
Whether you are planning a local move or a long-distance relocation, these frequently asked questions explain what to expect when you hire New Roots Moving Company. We cover estimates, insurance, deposits, storage, and move day procedures so you can move with confidence.
What services do you provide for local and long-distance moves?
We handle planning, professional packing, loading, secure transport, and delivery for both local and long-distance relocations. We also move specialty items such as pianos and antiques, and we offer secure short- and long-term storage at our Massillon warehouse.
Are you licensed and insured and what coverage is included?
Yes. New Roots Moving Company is a fully licensed and insured moving company, and we carry insurance that covers our operations and liability for loss or damage caused by our crews. Separately, basic valuation coverage is included by law for customers; this provides limited compensation in the rare event of loss or damage. We strongly recommend purchasing additional insurance or full value protection for broader coverage — we will review available protection options and help you choose the right level of coverage during your estimate.
Is there a deposit required for my move?
We require deposits to reserve equipment and trucks: $100 per truck for local moves and $500 for out-of-state moves.
What is your refund policy?
If you cancel seven or more days before the move date, we refund the deposit in full; cancellations within seven days are not refunded. If you need to reschedule, we’ll do our best to accommodate.
Do you disconnect and reconnect appliances during moves?
For safety and liability reasons, New Roots does not perform appliance disconnects or reconnections for gas, water, or electrical hookups. If you require appliance services, we recommend hiring a licensed technician; we can share local referrals or coordinate timing so the technician and our crew do not conflict on move day. This keeps your appliances and home safe and protects you from unintended damage or liability.
Do you disassemble and reassemble furniture?
Yes. Our crews routinely disassemble and reassemble household furniture such as bed frames, wardrobes, tables, bookcases, and other pieces to make loading and transport safe and efficient. We coordinate this work during the estimate and may apply a modest additional labor charge for especially complex items or extensive disassembly/reassembly. Let us know what you have and we’ll include it in your estimate.
Do you offer storage and where is it located?
Yes. We provide secure in-house storage at our Massillon warehouse. For more details about our storage solutions, visit our storage page.
When is the best time to schedule a move? Is there a busy season?
Summer months and month-end weekends are the busiest times for moving. For the best availability and to lock in preferred dates, book 2–4 weeks in advance. Weekdays and mid-month dates are generally easier to schedule and can reduce stress and wait time.
